McGuire Woods hosted their 14th Healthcare and Life Sciences Private Equity and Finance Conference at the Four Seasons Chicago February 22-23. Darin Acopan, Sr. Manager Special Markets with Stratus Dental Group attended. Highlights from the event were:
-Ben Stein provided a keynote speech on the state of the economy post-election. Stein is a well-known commentator on Fox News and CBS Sunday Morning, but most known for his comedic role in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
-The event centered around the future forecast of managed healthcare in general but was also bullish on several medical vertical markets such as- Dermatology, Veterinary, and Dental
-The dental breakout session was led by a panel of well-known players in the dental industry including: Shore Capital Partners, The Guardian Life Company, and Rich Beckman CEO of Great Expressions Dental Centers
-The outlook for dental was very bright- many private equity firms are looking to invest in the space but know very little about the dynamics within group practice. This serves as a fantastic opportunity for management companies like Stratus Dental Group to educate and come along side capital investors as they diversify their holdings through the acquisition of dental platforms.
-McGuire Woods is one of the preeminent law firms that assist with the buy and sell side of dental transactions. Their next healthcare event will be held in Charlotte North Carolina in Fall 2017.
